Mechanical Engineering Team Lead- HVAC

What You’ll Do

As an integral member of the RAAD HVAC team, you role will include:

  • Leading the HVAC system design for a tenant fit out, retail fitout, residential, and base building infrastructure upgrade projects.

  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations and select equipment appropriate for the project.

  • Primary HVAC design lead for large-scale, complex ground-up construction and major renovation projects, reporting to a senior designer.

  • Prepare design and construction documents for permitting and construction

  • Develop layouts for air and hydronic distribution systems

  • Mentor and support junior engineering staff through the review of load calculations, ductwork layouts, piping designs, and equipment selections, while providing ongoing design guidance.

  • Coordinate closely with architects, owners, contractors, and internal MEP disciplines

  • Conduct site surveys and document existing conditions

  • Prepare construction documents, specifications, and technical site visits reports

  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and attend site visits during construction

  • Contribute to RAAD’s quality control process and technical standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Approximately 4+ years of professional experience in building systems HVAC design

  • EIT preferred; PE license or path to licensure a plus

  • Background in HVAC design of residential, commercial, office, retail, and/or institutional projects

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, similar tools)

  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building mechanical design

  • Familiarity with NYC codes and construction practices and the International Building codes

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced consulting environment
